  • Jenny Slate reveals she's already given birth to a baby girl, whom she named Ida Lupine
  • Slate says she announced her pregnancy just four days before her due date
  • The "Gifted" actress says motherhood is the most meaningful thing that has ever happened to her

Jenny Slate has welcomed her baby girl with fiancé Ben Shattuck.

Slate, 38, confirmed that she had given birth weeks ago when she spoke with Entertainment Tonight's Katie Krause Wednesday. When asked about her pregnancy during their interview, the actress said, "I'm not pregnant anymore. The baby came out!"

Slate's revelation surprised Krause as the actress had announced her pregnancy just in December. The actress explained that she "did that funny thing" where she revealed that she was expecting a child "basically like four days away" from her due date.

The "Gifted" star also said that she and Shattuck named their daughter Ida Lupine. They chose Ida because they "loved the name" and added Lupine because it's their favorite flower.

Slate went on to say that she has already adjusted to motherhood because her daughter is a "sweet, happy baby" and a "good sleeper."

"I can say, without a doubt, that motherhood is for sure the most meaningful thing that has ever happened to me. I feel really lucky and happy," she told ET.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Slate had to wear a mask while giving birth. The "Venom" star explained that she found the process to be a positive experience and "strangely rather romantic" because she and her fiancé were very connected during that moment.

"Being a mother is such a joy. It's so cliché but I love it," she shared, adding that parenting also made her fall in love even more with Shattuck.

"He was so sweet and supportive toward me," Slate recalled. "We are already very, very close, but I guess you can get closer and closer when your love is healthy and good. That's something that I'm grateful for every day. That and our sweet gal!"

Slate revealed her pregnancy when she appeared on "Late Night With Seth Meyers" in December. Her new animated series, "The Great North," premieres on Feb. 14 at 8:30 p.m. EST/PT on Fox.

Slate previously dated "Captain America" star Chris Evans, whom she met on the set of their film "Gifted." Back in 2017, the actress said she never thought that Evans, whose dating history includes Jessica Biel and Minka Kelly, would look her way as she initially assumed she wasn't his type.

Their romance lasted less than a year, but they remain amicable. Evans even said he considers Slate his "favorite human" because "she’s so vulnerable, so honest, so interested in other people more than herself, she’s incredibly compassionate, there’s just nothing to not love about her."
