KEY POINTS
- Jeremy Lin announced he will continue his basketball journey with the Beijing Ducks
- He said he has no regrets and is excited about the future
- Lin moved on after failing to make an NBA return despite his impressive G-League stint
Jeremy Lin is headed back to China, announcing that he is set to return to his last Chinese Basketball Association team, the Beijing Ducks. The development came not long after the Asian-American fell short of making an NBA return despite an impressive performance in the G-League.
Lin confirmed his return to the Ducks’ fold on Instagram, revealing that he will suit up for the CBA team once more next season. The 32-year-old player also stated that he has no regrets and is excited about the future.
“Beijing Shougang, I’m back!” Lin wrote. “No regrets about the past, excited for the future. Still got a lot of basketball left in me and we’ll see where this road goes. Beijing Ducks, excited to be back this upcoming season! Thank you all for going on this journey with me.”
Lin tried his best to capture the attention of NBA teams that were looking at the free-agent market for players to add to their roster heading into the playoffs. Despite an impressive stint for the Santa Cruz Warriors, however, Lin never got a call from any NBA club.
And while all that may be disappointing to the one-time NBA champion, he has no hard feelings over how his return plans turned out. As mentioned in a previous report, Lin will move forward and will not turn his back on basketball.
Instead, the Harvard graduate plans to restart an old journey where he led the Ducks to the playoffs last CBA season. There were reportedly several teams interested in getting him, but in the end, the last CBA team where he saw action prevailed.
Lin also fulfilled a promise he made to Ducks fans when he left to pursue his NBA career. As for a potential NBA stint in the future, only Lin knows if that remains in the cards. He is aware that this is no longer in his hands and can only leave the door open for the possibility of playing once more in the NBA.
Lin was one of the G-League’s top scorers this past season with 19.8 points and 6.4 assists per contest. And while other top performers got the call, Lin was mysteriously the only one left out.
