Jerry Hall’s private art collection goes for auction
U.S. model and Rolling Stone Mick Jagger's ex-partner is selling several pieces from her private art collection including a portrait by Lucian Freud, a step she has taken to let go her past.
To be auctioned by Sotheby between October 15 and 16, the 14 pieces of art under the contemporary art section is expected to fetch over 1.5 million pounds ($2.3 million).
The other highlight of the auction is Freud's Eight Months Gone, depicting Hall eight months pregnant with her fourth child Gabriel in 1997 and painted after the artist met her at a dinner party. Another significant piece that will go under hammer is Andy the Warhol's Dollar Sign which the pop artist gave Hall in recognition of her help during the production of his television show, Warhol TV and works by Frank Auerbach, Robert Graham, Damien Hirst, David Bailey and RB Kitaj are also featured in the collection.
Fifty-year-old Hall said that there is a certain age when you want to get rid of things and let go.
Hall dumped Bryan Ferry for Jagger in the late 1970s, married the Rolling Stone in 1990, had four children with him. The couple separated in 1999 following Jagger's several philandering incidents.
