Jessica Biel Cast As Vera Miles in ‘Alfred Hitchcock And The Making of Psycho’: Does The Actress Look The Part? [PHOTOS]
Yesterday it was announced that Jessica Biel will be gracing the screen in the 2013 film, Alfred Hitchcock and the making of 'Psycho.' Biel, 30, has been cast alongside an already outstanding cast of actors, including Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren and Toni Collette.
Jessica Biel has been cast as Vera Miles, the actress who played Lila Crane in the 1960 Hitchcock horror film Psycho. Lila Crane is the sister of Marion Crane, who in 1960 was played by Janet Leigh. It was announced earlier this month that Leigh will be played by Scarlett Johansson.
Who exactly is Vera Miles, the actress that Biel is portraying? Miles was a beauty queen born in Oklahoma in1930, who attended school in Kansas and won the title of Miss Kansas in 1948. Her Miss Kansas title took her to Hollywood where she was cast in Alfred Hitchcock and John Ford films, one of which ended up being the box office hit, Psycho.
The movie is actually based off of Stephen Rebello's book of the same name. The book's Facebook page was the one that released Biel's casting. A post on the wall read, Jessica Biel will surprise moviegoers playing Vera Miles in the film based upon Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. And, we repeat, it is NOT a documentary. It is NOT a remake.
Rebello's book covers the inside story of what went into the making of Hitchcock's original Psycho. According to the plot synopsis on the Barnes and Noble website, Rebello takes us behind the scenes for every step in the creation of this cinematic masterpiece-from the story's original inspiration to the controversy surrounding the creation of the famous shower scene. The book incorporates information from in-depth interviews and private files belonging to Hitchcock.
