'Jessica Jones' Season 1 Spoilers: Netflix Releases New Photos Of David Tennant’s Purple Man And More
Netflix is preparing to release “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” later this month, but for now, they’re teasing fans with new photos. The images show nearly all of the main characters from the superhero series, including David Tennant’s highly anticipated performance as Zebediah Killgrave.
Tennant’s character, also known as the Purple Man, doesn’t appear to be doing anything evil -- but that’s his trick. Killgrave doesn’t have to do his dirty work. He can control minds, and no one is immune to his powers, not even former superheroes like Jessica (Krysten Ritter).
“Jessica Jones” follows the titular character as she runs Alias Investigations, her private investigation business. Jessica left her life as a superhero and started her business after developing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which may or may not be Killgrave’s fault. Jessica is also pictured, of course. It looks like she is staying fairly close to her comic book character’s wardrobe. She sticks to ripped jeans, flannels and leather jackets with minimal makeup. Despite leaving the superhero life behind, she still seems to be involved in a fair amount of action. Several photos show her in fight scenes or covered in blood.
The photos also give a closer look at Trisha Walker (Rachael Taylor), who was known as Patsy in the Marvel comics. Though she is a radio DJ in the show, she is clearly going to find herself in the middle of the action. She is wielding a gun in one still, and it seems like she knows what she’s doing. She should get used to the action because her character will eventually be the superhero known as Hellcat.
Also pictured is Jeryn Hogarth (Carrie Anne Moss). The character’s appearance was announced at New York Comic Con, which shocked some fans. The lawyer was a man in the comic books, but the writers switched the gender for this role. She is also one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) few LGBT characters. In the photos, it looks like she and Jessica will be working on a case very closely.
Luke Cage (Mike Colter) is missing from the majority of these photos. He is only featured in one photo with a dog, so it isn’t clear exactly how involved he’ll be in the series. Still, viewers can expect to see him plenty when he gets his own series, “Luke Cage,” in 2016.
“Marvel’s Jessica Jones” premieres Nov. 20 on Netflix.
