Jessica Mulroney’s Pippa Middleton Moment During Meghan Markle’s Wedding Revisited Amid Friendship Over Rumors
KEY POINTS
- Jessica Mulroney allegedly stole the spotlight from Meghan Markle on her royal wedding
- Mulroney apologized after being called out for her "white privilege"
- Markle no longer wants to be associated with her Canadian stylist BFF
Jessica Mulroney stole the spotlight from Meghan Markle during the latter’s royal wedding when she had her own version of the “Pippa Middleton moment.”
Mulroney and Markle are very close. Thus, it was not surprising to see the Canadian stylist at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal wedding.
However, Mulroney briefly stole the spotlight from the bride. She attended the event wearing a body-fit navy dress and was photographed ascending the stairs as she escorted her twin sons John and Brian while holding her daughter Ivy’s hand who were all part of Prince Harry and Markle’s entourage.
Mulroney’s derriere didn't escape the attention of the netizens. The scene was reminiscent of Pippa Middleton when she was also photographed walking behind her sister, Kate, while carrying the train of the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding gown.
“Jessica Mulroney may well have been trying to have her own Pippa Middleton moment,” royal and etiquette expert William Hanson said.
“It is never correct to upstage the bride - whether you are related to them or not. It is every guest's duty to look good but not too good.”
The issue of Mulroney stealing Markle’s spotlight resurfaced following the “white privilege” controversy involving the stylist. Last week, social media influencer Sasha Exeter shared that her action encouraging other influencers to use their platform to support the Black Lives Matter movement didn’t sit well with Mulroney. The latter allegedly threatened her job.
“What happened next was a series of very problematic behavior and antics that ultimately resulted in [Mulroney] sending me a threat in writing last Wednesday,” Exeter said.
“And that, my friends, gave her the momentary confidence to come for my livelihood in writing.”
Mulroney already apologized for what she did to Exeter. However, a source close to Markle claimed that the duchess no longer wants to be associated with Mulroney, and this could mean that their friendship is over.
“Meghan said friends reflect friends and because of what’s at stake she can no longer be associated with Jessica, at least not in public,” the insider said.
“She has to do what she has to do in order to preserve her dignity, and her own reputation.”
