New York Jets' defensive lineman Quinnen Williams was arrested late Thursday for attempting to board a plane with a gun.
The Associated Press said that New York/New Jersey Port Authority Police stopped Williams at the LaGuardia Airport around 9:15 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
The 22-year-old Williams has a permit for the Glock 19 pistol he was carrying, but it was registered and valid only in Alabama.
It was not immediately known if the gun was loaded.
He was processed by Port Authority Police and his case will be handled by the Queens district Attorney's Office once he is released, the outlet added.
The Athletic's Connor Hughes also reported on William's arrest, said Yahoo! Sports.
Williams was drafted third overall by the Jets in the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year deal with the team worth $32.5 million with a $21.6 million signing bonus and a fifth year option.
The former University of Alabama standout tallied 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks during his 13-game rookie season with the Jets.
