After weeks of interviews, NFL teams with vacant head coaching jobs are starting to nail down their choices and build for the future. The New York Jets are one of the few teams to not have a new head coach yet, but Las Vegas oddsmakers have a clear favorite based on rumblings around the league in recent days.

Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is the betting favorite to lead the Jets into the future, according to BetDSI. He has +150 odds, the best among the six possible candidates.

McCarthy has been considered a favorite for the job for the past few days. Team CEO Christopher Johnson was reportedly “enamored” with the former Packers coach, and now that one of the other top candidates in Kliff Kingsbury was hired by the Arizona Cardinals, it seems the way has been cleared for McCarthy to get the job.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that McCarthy only wants the Jets job and will not go after any others.

Behind McCarthy in the betting odds are former Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase and former Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell, both with +200 odds. Like McCarthy, both have head coaching experience and have taken teams to the playoffs. While McCarthy famously worked with Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, Gase and Caldwell have been praised for their work with Peyton Manning in the past.

It would make sense for the Jets to hire a coach who can closely monitor the development of quarterback Sam Darnold.

Betting odds for the next New York Jets head coach:

Mike McCarthy +150

Adam Gase +200

Jim Caldwell +200

Eric Bieniemy +500

Todd Monken +1000

Kris Richard +1500
