Sam Darnold and the New York Jets are coming off one of the most embarrassing performances of the 2019 NFL season. Expect both the quarterback and the team to bounce back in Week 8.

New York is a 6.5-point road underdog against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday afternoon, according to the latest betting line at OddsShark. The over/under is 40.5

Jacksonville opened as a four-point favorite. The point spread jumped on the heels of the Jets’ “Monday Night Football” performance. New York was shut out 33-0 at home by the New England Patriots. Darnold threw four interceptions and lost a fumble.

Every quarterback looks bad against the Patriots. New England has a historic pass defense, holding opposing signal callers to a 35.6 passer rating. Throw Darnold’s bad night against the defending champs out the window.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that Darnold played better than any quarterback in the conference. He was named Week 6 AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Returning from a month-long absence, Darnold went 23-32 for 338 yards, two touchdowns and a pick in a 24-22 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

A week after looking like the worst quarterback in football, Darnold might be the best quarterback on the field in Jacksonville.

The Gardner Minshew bandwagon isn’t as full as it once was. The Jaguars’ quarterback has completed just 53.6 percent of his passes in his last four games. Minshew is averaging 6.4 yards per attempt in his six starts, putting him near the bottom of the league.

Jacksonville is 17th in opponents’ yards per play and total yards allowed. The pass defense isn’t nearly as good without Jalen Ramsey.

The Jets’ defense is a little underrated. New York is ninth in opponents’ yards per play and eighth in opponents’ passer rating.

The gap between the Jets and Jaguars isn’t as great as the betting line would have you believe. New York can win this game outright.

Prediction: New York over Jacksonville, 24-19
