Jhené Aiko Fans React To New Lyrics After Album, 'Chilombo' Drop
Jhené Aiko dropped her latest album, “Chilombo” Friday and fans on Twitter are beside themselves with excitement over the new music.
“Chilombo” is Aiko’s first album since her 2017 outing “Trip” and features 20 new songs, according to Billboard. The record includes collaborative songs with features from John Legend, Big Sean, Future, Miguel, Dr. Chill, H.E.R. and others.
One of her songs, “B.S.” includes the lyric, “ I just seen your new [expletive], it boost my self-esteem,” that has fans overjoyed by the power-inducing line saying they “felt that” and they are ready to get back "to the streets."

The Los Angeles-born singer is known for her R&B style of music that sometimes meshes with the world of neo-soul and hip-hop. Some fans are stating that this album is one of their favorites Aiko has ever created, saying her work is consistently good.

“Chilombo” is named after Aiko’s father, Dr. Karamo Chilombo, the surname being a moniker he chose for himself years ago, according to Essence. With this album, she tried to make it more personal — using a variety of sounds and lyrics that reflect her life.
“I make music for healing purposes, for myself,” she said. “It’s like journaling or when people paint. It’s sort of an escape. It’s turning pain or frustration into something; into art.”
Her fans couldn’t agree more. Many tweeted about the album with crying emojis and said that Aiko’s music has “healing” power.

Aiko is most well known for her verse in Omarion’s November 2014 “Post To Be” that also features Chris Brown, where she sings, “but he got to eat the booty like groceries.” Besides “Chilombo” and “Trip”, she also released two other albums-- 2011’s “Sailing Soul(s),” “Souled Out” (2014).
