  • Ji Chang Wook may portray the role of Yeon Gye Rye
  • Wook will also be seen in "The Sound of Magic"
  • He was previously seen in the movie, "Hard Hit"

South Korean actor Ji Chang Wook is reportedly in talks to be part of a new drama series that will take place in a hospice ward where patients openly cite their desire for a peaceful death.

The actor's management agency, Glorious Entertainment, confirmed Thursday he was reviewing the lead role in the drama “Tell Me Your Wish,” Soompi reported.

Wook was reportedly offered the role of Yeon Gye Rye, an “adult child” who has lost his desire to live, and is barely holding on even as he tries to be strong in front of everyone.

“He is a broken adult who habitually harms himself by getting tattoos on his body whenever he wants to live again. In the end, the viewers will pray that he lives a "happy life" even for a short moment,” Zapzee described the character of Rye.

In April, Koreaboo confirmed Wook's participation in the original series, “The Sound of Magic,” where he portrays a mysterious and immature magician named Lee Eul, who lives in an abandoned theme park and repeatedly asks everyone he meets, “Do you believe in magic?”

The series is based on a popular webtoon named “Annarasumanara” by Ha Ilkwon, and is being directed by Kim Sung Yoon, who previously helmed the hit coming-of-age drama, “Itaewon Class.”

According to Zapzee, Wook will start filming “Tell Me Your Wish” after he wraps up the filming of “The Sound of Magic.”

After his discharge from the South Korean military in 2019, Wook had starred in two TV series: “Backstreet Rookie” and “Lovestruck In the City.”

This year, he also starred in a movie named “Hard Hit,” a fast-paced thriller, which held the number one spot in South Korea’s box office. The movie earned a total of $2,206,619 in ticket sales, Forbes reported.

On its opening day on June 23, it sold more than 50,000 tickets, and beat the record held earlier by the film “Seo Bok,” which sold 45,000 tickets on its opening day.

"Hard Hit" also held the top spot in the box office for several days, beating Hollywood’s “Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” and “A Quiet Place Part II.”
