Jimmy Fallon's Mother Gloria Dead At 68: Comedians, Other Celebrities React
‘The Tonight Show’ host Jimmy Fallon's mother died peacefully Saturday at NYU Langone Medical Center, New York, a day after the show canceled one of its tapings. Gloria Fallon, 68, died of an undisclosed illness.
According to the Deadline, the show will not air from Nov. 6-10 in light of the death. Repeat episodes of the show will reportedly be scheduled.
Fox News reported the NBC network, which broadcasts the show, extended its deepest condolences to Fallon and his family. As the news of the loss came to light, fans and celebrities took to social media to offer their thoughts and prayers.
Pop singer and actress Miley Ray Cyrus expressed her sadness over the loss on Twitter.
Comedian and television host Stephen Colbert, who lost his mother in 2013 while hosting ‘The Late Show’ on Comedy Central, wrote on Twitter, "Mom is the first audience and the best. Remembering Jimmy Fallon and his family in our prayers today."
Actor Terry Crews, who recently opened up about being sexually harassed by talent agency William Morris Endeavor’s executive Adam Venit, expressed his sympathy.
Talk show host Andy Cohen wrote on Twitter, "Jimmy's mom was full of energy, fun, a hearty laugh & twinkle in her eye."
Comedian Loni Love also reacted to the death of Fallon's mother.
Backstreet Boys’ member A.J. McLean tweeted "my thoughts and prayers."
Steve Irwin’s widow, the American-Australian naturalist Terri Irwin also tweeted condolences.
Television personality Al Roker also took to Twitter to express his sorrow.
Film producer Patrick Millsaps expressed his grief over the comedian’s loss.
Josh Gad an American actor wished Fallon and family "lots of love" during the difficult time.
Various news channels and general public also tweeted their condolences after Gloria’s death.
According to People.com, Fallon is known to keep his family life private though he has shared funny stories and sweet moments about his mother over the years.
The report said Fallon revealed to Howard Stern in June his mother used to be a nun. Last month Fallon shared a memory about his mother as part of a “#MomQuotes” segment for the talk show he hosts.
According to Los Angeles Times, Fallon would also talk about his mom with guests on the show including Colin Hanks, Danny De Vito, Beyoncé and Tina Knowles Lawson.
Gloria Fallon had attended the show of her son’s first night hosting of the famed talk show in 2014.
