  • Steve Mariucci says Jimmy Garoppolo should have a proper sendoff
  • Garoppolo is expected to have a long list of suitors this offseason
  • Trey Lance is set to take over quarterbacking duties from Garoppolo

Jimmy Garoppolo is speculated to be leaving the San Francisco 49ers soon although such has yet to be made official.

But given that he is owed big money, almost everyone is aware that the transition to Trey Lance is imminent.

The two-time Super Bowl champion mustered enough to do his share for the Niners.

Unfortunately, his stint was marred by a spate of injuries that told heavily on the wards of coach Kyle Shanahan.

Regardless, the fact is the 30-year-old handed the Niners wins, an effort that appeared to be not enough for the unforgiving Niners fans.

According to former 49ers coach and current NFL Network analyst Steve Mariucci, Garoppolo deserves a proper send-off, thanking him for his efforts.

Mariucci shared his thoughts on Garoppolo when he was interviewed by NFL insider Matt Maiocco at Radio Row during the Super Bowl week.

"I think they should throw a party for Jimmy and say thank you, because you know what, he gave them a lot of wins. There were times when people were rough on him .. but you know what, he played pretty darn well overall. He'll land on his feet someplace else and he'll start someplace else, you watch. And then it'll be Trey Lance's turn," the 66-year-old stated.

Unless the Niners have a change of heart, which is unlikely, all signs point to Garoppolo hooking up with another team.

As of this writing, that remains to be known.

For the veteran quarterback, he will not be all short of suitors. But his injury history will be a problem, potentially a factor that may determine how much money he will get in his next NFL contract.
