Jodi Arias Twitter Donations: Travis Alexander's Murderer Causes Uproar On Social Media
Convicted murderer Jodi Arias is soliciting money via Twitter through a “third party” and has caused uproar on the social media site. Arias is trying to accept donations for her appeal after the 32-year-old photographer was convicted of murdering her boyfriend Travis Alexander in 2008.
She posted on Twitter Wednesday, “Donations are now being accepted for my appeals at http://www.Justice4Jodi.com.”
The Arizona resident tried to claim self-defense, but her plea fell short partly due to lies she has told authorities over the years about Alexander’s death. She changed her story several times about her whereabouts on the night of the murder. Eventually, Arias admitted she was the last person to see her former lover alive, but that was only after police found photographs of them together on the last night Alexander was alive.
During her 18-day testimony, Arias tried to depict her self as a woman who was physically, mentally and emotionally abused by Alexander, whom she said used her as a sex object. She also claimed Alexander masturbated to pictures of little boys and asked that she wear boy’s underwear and wear her hair in pigtails.
The jury did not believe Arias killed Alexander in self-defense, but jurors were unable to come to a decision over whether she would receive the death penalty. If she were to be sentenced to the death penalty, she would have had to kill her ex-boyfriend in an “exceptionally cruel manner.”
Whether or not Arias murdered Alexander in an “exceptionally cruel manner,” here’s what she did do: She slit his throat from ear to ear and stabbed him 27 times before shooting him in the forehead. Aria then dragged his lifeless body into the shower and fled the scene. Originally, she said she was never there. She also sent his grandmother flowers after his death and said she was very sorry Alexander was gone.
Even if Arias might have a few supporters, there are more people on the social media site who could not believe she had the audacity to ask for money. Check out some of the responses that followed her “donations” tweet below:
