  • Jodie Turner-Smith was robbed of jewelry worth $14,000 at the Marriott hotel in Cannes
  • The actress immediately moved to the Majestic hotel after the burglary
  • Among the items that Turner-Smith lost from the robbery was her mom's wedding ring

Jodie Turner-Smith has reportedly been robbed of valuable jewelry in Cannes Friday.

Turner-Smith was in the city for the premiere of her new movie "After Yang." She was at breakfast when the burglars broke into her hotel room at the Marriott and stole her collection of jewelry worth €10,000 ($14,000), including her mother's wedding ring, Variety reported.

The "Queen & Slim" star immediately moved from the Marriott to the Majestic hotel, which is just a few blocks down the Croisette. She was given a large security detail that has since been accompanying her everywhere she goes. Turner-Smith took her 1-year-old daughter to her trip in France, and this heightened concerns about her safety.

The outlet noted that the actress may have been targeted after she was seen wearing gold and diamond jewelry from the Gucci High Jewelry line to the premiere of her movie Thursday night. However, the accessories were immediately taken back after the event. The burglars may have broken into her room thinking that the items were still in her possession.

Despite what happened, Turner-Smith remained professional and carried on with her appearances and work in Cannes. She even sat down with Variety for Kering's Women in Motion talk Sunday.

Turner-Smith's publicist confirmed the incident and said she spent time at the police station to report the robbery. Meanwhile, local publication Nice-Matin reported about the burglary but did not name the hotel and the victim. The local outlet noted that there was no forced entry and that the room was opened using a key card. The hotel is already investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, the "Queen" star tweeted about what happened to her in Cannes after the incident. She didn't share a lot of details but she did mention that she was at the police station.

"Didn’t think i would be spending 2.5 hours in the police station on my final day in cannes, but here we are," she tweeted with woozy face emoji.

Turner-Smith's fans showered her with supportive messages. They were also glad that she and her child were safe.

"So sorry, but glad you are safe. The loss of a family heirloom is devastating. My parent's house was broken into and my mum lost her mother's necklace she wore everyday amongst other irreplaceable pieces. I hope there is a chance they can recover it," one commented.

"Just read about it in Variety. So sorry Jodie. I hope they recover your jewelry. Especially your Mom's ring," another added.

"I hope they question the hotel staff. No forced entry is suspicious.. hopefully you have a positive outcome!" a third user wrote.
