Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, is set to speak in Darby, Pennsylvania. He is expected to address the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and plans to reopen the U.S. economy.

Biden recently unveiled a proposal that would gradually reopen the U.S. economy and protect businesses and individuals. The plan would also guarantee testing and protective equipment for all employees returning to the workforce.

Biden’s proposal would also call for paid leave for workers or caregivers that contract COVID-19, as well as the creation of 100,000-strong contact tracing “job corps” that would reach out to potentially infected individuals.

“If we don’t do this, we’re going to be in deep, deep, deeper trouble economically,” Biden has said about the proposal, dismissing concerns that it would be too expensive to implement.

Darby is located just outside Philadelphia and is a short distance from Biden's home in Wilmington, Delaware.

Pennsylvania is considered a key battleground state in the 2020 presidential election. In 2016, President Trump carried the state by about 44,000 votes.
