Joe Jackson Reportedly Blind After Stroke; Father Of Michael And Janet Jackson Hospitalized While In Brazil For His 87th Birthday
Joe Jackson remains in recovery at Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, Brazil after suffering a stroke Sunday. The Jackson family patriarch and father of singers Janet Jackson the late Michael Jackson is at least temporarily blind after the incident, which occurred while the music icon was in South America to celebrate his 87th birthday.
According to TMZ, Jackson woke up Sunday morning feeling dizzy and having problems with his vision. Jackson, a diabetic, was admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital later that day. Doctors are running more tests while Jackson’s family considers flying the talent manager back to the United States for more treatment.
Unfortunately for Jackson, his health issues interrupted plans for an elaborate birthday bash in Brazil Sunday night. According to The Daily Mail, a party worth $200,000 had been planned for that evening before Jackson’s stroke forced him to cancel the celebration. Jackson had been in Brazil all weekend in anticipation of the event and was spotted in São Paulo Friday getting dinner with French singer Angelina Stilitti, 26, whom Jackson manages.
Before any word of Joe Jackson’s health problems got out, Janet Jackson tweeted Sunday to wish her father a happy birthday.
Sunday was not the first time that Joe Jackson has dealt with some scary health issues. Three years ago the then-84-year-old was admitted to a Las Vegas hospital after reportedly suffering his third minor stroke in five years.
Fans will have to sit tight for word on the outlook for Joe Jackson’s long term health and when the Jackson patriarch is expected to regain his vision. The Jackson family has not yet released a statement.
