Joey King and Jacob Elordi shared their thoughts on the ending of "The Kissing Booth 3."
Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for the third installment in the Netflix film series.
King and Elordi played on-screen lovers Elle Evans and Noah Flynn, respectively, in "The Kissing Booth" movies. Many were rooting for their characters to be together until the end since they have always had a thing for each other. However, the two characters split in "The Kissing Booth 3."
After a six-year flash-forward, Elle has become a successful video game designer while Noah has become a furnished lawyer. Despite their obvious love for each other, the movie ended without them getting the happy ending many fans were hoping to happen. They didn't officially get back together despite enjoying a bike ride in the final scene. The ending was left open for viewers to speculate about their future together.
"I don't know," King told Entertainment Tonight when asked about Elle and Noah's future. "I don't want to put my view on it too heavily, because I want everyone to be able to paint their own picture, but I think that these characters, Elle and Noah, have gone through so much. They always have this flutter in their heart for each other."
She continued, "Regardless of what the ending is, or may be, or what could be, I never think they will lose that. If they don't or if they do wind up together."
Meanwhile, Elordi, just like King, said he wasn't sure if Noah and Elle would get back together. However, he was pleased with how the franchise ended.
"I think it's nice to see that kind of well-rounded ending and see where they end up," he said. "It's less ambiguous and you kind of gage an idea of where it's going and what happens."
King agreed that the third film was "wrapped up so perfectly." She added that doing a third movie was "hard" because they wanted to give their fans what they want with "a little spice, a little flavor" without "closing the book."
Meanwhile, Joel Courtney, who played Elle's best friend and Noah's brother Lee Flynn, said he was very thrilled with the time jump. His character also split with Rachel (Meganne Young) when they were about to go to college. But unlike Elle and Noah, Lee and Rachel got back together and were engaged toward the end of "The Kissing Booth 3."
"It's just awesome. I love the time jump," Courtney said. "I was actually surprised by it, too. I loved it."
However, fans are still hoping to get another sequel. Many took to Twitter and petitioned for "The Kissing Booth 4." Unfortunately, they might not get the ending they wanted because Netflix already said the third installment is the final one in the franchise. King and Elordi have also confirmed that "The Kissing Booth 3" is going to be the last film.
