John Cena Hilariously Reveals Reason Behind Wearing Denim Shorts In WWE [Video]
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar John Cena hilariously has revealed why he wore his signature "jorts" (denim shorts) throughout his WWE career.
John Cena, who recently made an appearance on an episode of "The Late Late Show With James Corden", said he thought it would set him apart from other stars by wearing street clothes.
“If you look at my other options, it's just underwear. I wanted to do some sort of street clothes because my persona was a tough wannabe rapper kid from the mean streets of West Newbury. Tough to do that in your underwear. Tough to do that."
"I tried cargo pants and in front of the world a few times - here I am trying to put my life on the line with a superstar that I'm trying to have a match with and everybody's just looking at my d--k. So, denim is a safe play. And they're back in, so I kind of stood the test of time!” added John Cena, whose costume of blue denim shorts eventually turned out to be a standout and iconic.
The 16-time world champion, who has shifted his focus from WWE to his new career in Hollywood, has also promised the WWE Universe that he will never fully retire from the ring. Last year he admitted that his body can't quite take the punishment it could when he was just beginning his wrestling career.
The baby-faced star, who has not made a WWE appearance since 2019, has confirmed that he'll "be in the neighborhood" for WWE WrestleMania 36 in April.
"I know we have a small, large event called WrestleMania around the corner. It just so happens to be in Tampa. That's kinda where I live, so I'll be in the neighborhood."
"Suicide Squad should be done. But it's not like I call someone up and be like, 'I wanna be in WrestleMania.' Those spots are very coveted. There are performers that work all year, 250 shows a year, to earn one of those spots. I would love to earn one of those spots,” John Cena recently said on "Jimmy Kimmel Live".
John Cena is expected soon to start shooting for his role in the upcoming "Suicide Squad 2" film.
