John Podesta Slams Trump Comments On Twitter: 'Dude, Get Your Head In The Game'
John Podesta slammed tweets by Donald Trump on Friday after the president claimed “everyone” at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, was discussing the former chairman of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign. Hours after Trump made the claim on Twitter, Podesta fired back with a thread in which he told the president, “Dude, get your head in the game.”
“On a x-country road trip with my wife,” Podesta wrote in the first of seven tweets. “Pulled in for a pit stop in E. Fairmont W. Va. to see that our whack job POTUS @realDonaldTrump is tweeting about me at the G20. Get a grip man, the Russians committed a crime when they stole my emails to help get you elected President. Maybe you might try to find a way to mention that to President Putin.”

Podesta was responding specifically to the president’s claim that “everyone” was “talking about why John Podesta refused to give the DNC server to the FBI and the CIA.” The president seemed to conflate the organization, which endorsed former Democratic nominee Clinton, with Podesta’s role in the campaign. Both were hacked during the election cycle, and the DNC initially refused to allow the intelligence community access to its servers.
The tweet neither identified who “everyone” included, nor provided any clue as to why the president tweeted the claim to his 33 million followers. The tweet was “liked” more than 70,000 times by Friday afternoon.
In his response to Trump’s tweet, Podesta went on to claim he “had nothing to do with the DNC,” perhaps clarifying for the president that he did not work for the organization during the presidential campaign.
“God only knows what you'll be raving about on twitter by the time we get to Utah,” Podesta tweeted. “Dude, get your head in the game. You’re representing the US at the G20.”

Adrienne Watson, a spokeswoman for the DNC, responded to the president’s claims Friday by clarifying the fact that Podesta “never ran the DNC” and adding that it cooperated with the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security following the hacks.
“DNC worked with FBI to kick out Russians. Worked with DHS,” she wrote.
She added, “Putin make you tweet this before mtg?”
The intelligence community has remained steadfast in its assertion that Russia meddled with the 2016 election in hopes of helping Trump get elected. While Trump has consistently rejected those claims, he did acknowledge that some interference occurred during a news conference in Warsaw, Poland, this week.
“It very well could be Russia,” he said, adding, “I think it could very well have been other countries.”
