How much is Johnny Boychuck’s net worth after playing so many years in the NHL?

Boychuck has more than a decade of experience in the National Hockey League. The longevity speaks for his professionalism and commitment to the sport.

The popular defenseman is now suiting up for the New York Islanders. He first played in Colorado Avalanche then swapped jerseys for the Boston Bruins, in which he stayed for six years. He has been a part of the Islanders for six years now and is on contract until 2022.

Boychuck started with a mere $475,000 salary with the Avalanche back in 2007. He is now earning $6 million for the current season. Due to salary cap restrictions, the fan favorite, who signed a seven-year $42 million contract withe the Islanders, will receive $4 million for the next two years. He has so far earned over $48 million since 2007. If he finishes his contract with the Islanders, he will have a career earnings sum of $56,039,634.

Boychuck's estimated net worth is around $20 million. He is married and has twin daughters.

A horrific accident that happened on Tuesday left many fans worried. Per CBS Sports, as the Islanders were playing the Montreal Canadiens, he was inadvertently hit by an opponent's skate in the face. Canadiens winger Artturi Lehkonen stumbled on the floor, forcing his skate to make contact with Boychuck’s face. The New York Islanders went on to lose that game, 6-2.

Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello in a statement said Boychuck’s eyelid was cut but is fortunate his eye was spared. The accident resulted in a cut near his eye and nose that needed 90 stitches.

As number 55 recuperates, his team will miss his production on the ice. So far, Boychuk has found the back of the net 11 times for New York, which is not bad for a veteran defenseman in the NHL.

Boychuk is set to become a free agent in 2023. If he can show he still has what it takes, fans can see more years for the vet on the ice.
