Johnny Depp, Amber Heard Divorce Shock: Actor Allegedly Threatened To Drown, Burn Ex-Wife
KEY POINTS
- Johnny Depp sent out cryptics texts to his pal about Amber Heard years ago
- Johnny Depp claimed that he wanted to drown and burn Amber Heard
- Johnny Depp's case against The Sun went into pre-trial this week
Johnny Depp’s shocking text messages sent out to his friends were recently read in court.
On Wednesday, a pre-trial hearing was held after Depp sued The Sun and its executive director, Dan Wooton for suggesting that he had been abusive to his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
During the pre-trial hearing, Mr. Justice Nicol listened to 70,000 text messages that were accidentally disclosed to the defendants by Depp’s former legal team.
Some of the disturbing text messages were reportedly sent to Paul Bettany in November 2013, and it contains statements such as burning the “Aquaman” star.
“Let's drown her before we burn her!!! I will [expletive] her burnt corpse afterward to make sure she is dead," the court heard,” Depp wrote.
In 2014, Depp sent Bettany another text where he seemingly confirmed his drug and alcohol consumption.
“I'm gonna properly stop the booze thing darling... Drank all night before I picked Amber up to fly to LA, this past Sunday. Ugly, mate... No food for days... Powders... Half a bottle of whiskey, a thousand red bull and vodkas, pills, two bottles of champers on a plane and what do you get,” Depp wrote.
Adam Wolanski QC, who is representing News Group Newspapers, said that the texts are significant because they prove that Depp was not drunk while onboard the controversial flight. At that time, Heard claimed that her ex-husband slapped and kicked her, and Depp also threw his shoes at her.
David Sherborne, who is representing Depp, said that there was no concrete evidence to prove that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star had been violent with Heard.
“Nowhere, I repeat, nowhere, is there a single smoking gun, text or email, no document - unlike Ms. Heard's own taped confession we looked at before - there is no document where Mr. Depp says 'I hit Ms. Heard' let alone 'I hit her on numerous occasions,’” he said.
Depp and Heard’s divorce once again made headlines after leaked audiotapes revealed that it was actually the actress that was abusive towards her ex-husband.
