Johnny Depp, Amber Heard Married In Private Ceremony Amid Recent Breakup Rumors

It looks like Johnny Depp simply couldn’t wait another moment before saying “I do” to his lovely fiancée, actress Amber Heard. The two reportedly tied the knot just days before their scheduled wedding in the Bahamas this weekend.

According to Us Weekly, the couple had a private wedding at the 51-year-old actor’s West Hollywood home on Tuesday, Feb. 3, despite plans to have a larger ceremony on Depp’s private island in the Bahamas later in the week. Sources told the outlet that the tropical ceremony has not been canceled now that they’re already married, it will simply be an opportunity for them to promise their lives to one another in a more public venue.

“It will be a really simple ceremony,” a source said of the upcoming celebration. “Things are in a great place with them.”

The couple met while filming the 2009 film “The Rum Diary.” At the time, Depp was still with his long-time partner, model and actress Vanessa Paradis. Depp broke things off with Paradis in 2012 and soon after began publically dating Heard, now 28. Depp has two children with Paradis, Lily-Rose, 15, and Jack, 12.

While Depp and Heard's wedding is definite proof of the couple’s happiness together, the road to their big day (or in this case, a few days before the big day) wasn’t so smooth. After a very odd engagement announcement in December 2014, in which Depp revealed he’d started wearing the ring that he proposed to Heard with -- apparently it was too big for her and for some reason, re-sizing wasn't an option -- the couple were plagued with rumors of an alleged split.

People Magazine notes that the 23-year age difference between the two has contributed to some challenges in their relationship. Last year, a source told the outlet that the actors were in no rush to get married, saying that there is “turmoil in the relationship.” Still, it looks like all of that is out the window now as Heard is officially Depp's wife.

This is Depp's second marriage. He split from his first wife, makeup artist Lori Anne Allison in 1986.
