KEY POINTS

- Johnny Depp was mocked on Twitter for not leaving Amber Heard immediately
- Johnny Depp was encouraged to grow a pair by one critic
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s messy divorce from four years ago is making headlines after the former couple’s audiotapes were leaked two weeks ago.
In the recordings, Heard taunts Depp by telling him that no one would believe that he’s a victim of abuse. The “Aquaman” star received tons of criticisms especially from those who initially believed that it was Depp that abused her and not the other way around.
But there are still some individuals who think that Depp is to be blamed for what happened to him and his ex-wife. Earlier this week, a video of Heard pulling Depp’s arms as he was trying to greet a fan went viral.
Some netizens claimed that Heard’s body language in the video was already an obvious indication that she was the one abusing her ex-husband. But Twitter user @KingofShwing_ didn’t think so.
“Johnny needs to grow a pair,” he said.
One of Depp’s supporters fired back at the critic by saying that he’s the one who needs to grow some humanity and realize that men can also become abuse victims and survivors.
“#JohnnyDepp is among the many male abuse victims that had the strength not to ‘strike back’ because they are intelligent enough to know that they would suffer the consequences,” Twitter user @Natalia7894069 said.
However, the other netizen still stood by his statement by saying that Depp should’ve just left Heard very early on when he saw signs that she could be abusive.
Another Twitter user fired back by saying that a person who doesn’t know anything about emotional and physical abuse should refrain from commenting.
“You only care because he’s Johnny Depp. Save the BS. He needs to grow a pair and be a man,” Twitter user @KingofShwing_ said.
Meanwhile, the Twitter user isn’t the only person who didn’t side with Depp after news broke out that he allegedly abused Heard. Last year, the hashtag #IAmWithAmber went viral after fans thought that it was the actress that was abused by Depp.
And after the audio recordings were leaked by Daily Mail two weeks ago, some netizens realized that it is Depp that needs to seek justice.
“#justiceforamberheard #IAmWithAmber Guys you are sick. #AmberHeardIsALiar,” Twitter user @Maryem0128 wrote.
