Johnny Depp Shares Painting With Philosophical Caption On Instagram Amid Amber Heard Drama

Amid his messy fight with ex Amber Heard, Johnny Depp is making better use of his time by painting in his Los Angeles abode.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star is proving to be productive during the lockdown period as he revisits a painting that he said he has been working on for 14 years already. Depp proudly displayed his artwork of a bottle of wine at his garden and shared it on Instagram, deeply reflecting on the current situation.

“It’s odd, the things that we once gave such pure, intense focus and devotion to for months on end. Then suddenly the wind shifts and off we go on a new tack,” Depp wrote.

The star continued to reveal the story behind his artwork, adding that the interests and passions have fallen by the wayside and recede into the vast recesses of some hoarder’s crawlspace in the brain cloaked in heaps of the other things that my skull had no room for…until recently.”

Depp began his painting in 2006 and for over a decade, he didn’t touch it again, only glancing at the dusty artwork at times. Even so, the actor said the unfinished masterpiece had always stayed on his mind.

According to Hello Magazine, Depp has a profound love of art and boasts a wide collection of paintings. Four years ago, the 56-year-old sold a line-up of artworks, which included nine Jean Michel Basquiat works, for millions of dollars. Then, in 2017, he gifted talk show host Ellen DeGeneres an elephant painting. He also revealed that his son Jack got his love for art.

Depp’s 14-year-old painting comes weeks after he shared a video of himself playing guitar by himself in what seemed like a cellar.

“Sending you all my love and thank you for staying on this long road with me. JD,” Depp captioned the clip.

It’s unclear what he was really pertaining to but it is worth noting that he and his ex-wife Heard are in a chaotic, long legal battle that saw Depp’s exes coming to his defense. Vanessa Paradis, whom he shares two kids with, described him as “ kind, attentive, generous and non-violent person and father,” The Guardian reported.
