Johnny Knoxville has opened up about his newly dropped slapstick comedy movie "Jackass Forever" and shared his thoughts on the deadly bull stunt that caused his brain damage.

"I knew going into this film that this will be the last time I'm gonna be doing big stunts," the 50-year-old stunt performer and actor said in an interview with The Guardian, which was released Monday. "I didn't know I was going to get as injured as I did, but I brought that on myself. I have nothing to complain about, only things to be grateful for."

In one of his stunts in the movie, Knoxville flipped and spun into the air after standing in front of a charging bull. Unfortunately, he landed on his head. He broke his ribs and wrist and even suffered brain damage. It took him months to bounce back, according to The Guardian.

The said stunt was teased in the trailer of the movie, which Paramount Pictures dropped in January.

During the interview, Knoxville also revealed that his father passed away before filming the movie.

"In the back of my mind, I was like: 'God, I wanted to tell him we were making another film, because that would have made him so happy and lifted his spirits.' But I didn't get to do that," he recalled before adding, "He was my hero."

"Jackass Forever" hit the theaters on Feb. 2. It is the latest installment of the popular comedy franchise "Jackass" that has been known for showcasing the hilarious stunts performed by Knoxville, along with his co-stars Rachel Wolfson, Bam Margera, Steve O and Jason Acuña. Its first installment was released in 2000.

Besides the "Jackass" franchise, Knoxville also appeared in movies like "Polar," "We Summon the Darkness," "Mainstream," "Above Suspicion" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs the Reverend." He will be next seen in the TV series "Reboot," which is under pre-production.

On the personal front, Knoxville was married to fashion designer Melanie Lynn Clapp from 1995 to 2008. The former couple shares a 26-year-old daughter named Madison Clapp. The stunt performer and actor went on to marry director Naomi Nelson in 2010, with whom he shares two children — Rocko Akira Clapp, 12, and Arlo Clapp, 10.
