It appears football player Johnny Manziel deleted his Twitter account Monday, after his handle — @JManziel2 — no longer displayed his page.

The apparent deletion came just hours after the quarterback, who has been the subject of myriad controversies, offered his advice on Twitter to President Donald Trump. He suggested the president stop checking his tweets about him from other users.

"Yo @POTUS even I know to stay away from the notifications section on twitter. [S---] will drive you crazy, lead the country and let them hate," he wrote on the microblogging social media site.

All was not lost for folks hoping to follow the former member of the Cleveland Browns on social media. Manziel's Instagram account remained active as of about 4 p.m. EST.

Manziel has had numerous public struggles, including issues with substance abuse and frequent partying. He was also accused of assault against his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley. Manziel reached a conditional dismissal agreement with prosecutors in December.

Manziel's NFL career largely sputtered after a stellar stint in college at Texas A&M University, which included a Heisman win for the quarterback. Amid the assault allegations and ongoing struggles with substance abuse, he was released by the Browns last year and has not yet found a new team.

He recently tweeted that he was hoping to make a comeback and admitted the last year had not been good. "No lie.. I was a douche in 2016 I'm just trying to be a good PERSON again#LostInTheSauce," he posted in a now-deleted tweet.

In two years with the Browns, Manziel appeared in 14 games and had a middling passer rating of 74.4. He threw seven touchdowns and seven interceptions.

While Manziel might have gone out of his way to advise Trump before deleting his account, the now-president was also apparently a fan of the quarterback.

"Teams are making a big mistake not taking Johnny Manziel - he is going to be really good (and exciting to watch)," Trump tweeted in May 2014.
