JoJo Siwa Pays Tribute To Britney Spears On 'DWTS,' Says Many Things 'Make Us Similar'
JoJo Siwa paid tribute to Britney Spears ahead of her performance on "Dancing With the Stars," noting the similarities between her and Spears as they both grew up in the limelight.
"I love Britney," Siwa said on Monday's segment. "Britney is a legend. An icon. A ball of talent and glitter and energy. She is a genius. She just has a way of being herself, almost like nobody else does."
The reality show is celebrating Britney Spears week where stars are dancing to the tunes of the pop star. The 18-year-old dancer performed the Argentine Tango with her dancing partner, Jenna Johnson to "...Baby One More Time" music track.
Siwa revealed how she feels connected with Spears on different levels. "She has music, I have music, she started at a young age, I started at a young age, she did movies, I do movies. Like, there are so many things that make us similar," she said.
The dancer noted she had a "great support system" around her while growing up, however, she also believes it is "hard" being a child star.
The popular YouTuber with over 12 million subscribers further explained that she was always home-schooled and this is the reason why she never got bullied like other kids. Although she recalled an incident when she was 14-year-old and visited a theme park.
"One night, I went to a Halloween theme park. People were shouting at me, 'JoJo Siwa, 'F’ you.' No 14-year-old wants to hear that," she recalled. "Every time that I go through something, it reminds me of the other side, of what’s good."
Considering the performance in Season 30 of 'DWTS,' judged by Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, Derek Hough and Len Goodman, the dancing pair received all the praises.
Goodman said, "That was an extremely well-crafted routine. You can't deliver a bad performance" while Tonioli noted that Siwa every time goes "right for the bullseye." Ann Inaba said that the performance was like a "liquid sunshine."
Besides reality TV, Siwa was recently seen in a movie, "The J Team," which was released on Sept. 3. She will next feature in a teen drama movie, "Bounce," which is penned by Josann McGibbon.
