Jon Gosselin Gives Update On Custody Battle, Says Things Are ‘Bad’ With Kate Gosselin
Jon Gosselin claims that he still can’t visit some of his eight children. The former “Jon & Kate Plus 8” star opened up about his custody battle with ex-wife Kate Gosselin, saying that things are not good between them.
According to the reality star-turned-DJ, he and Kate barely communicate, and even though they have a custody agreement that allows him weekly dinners with his children and overnight visits every other weekend, he’s still not able to spend time with some of the brood. “I can’t do anything,” he told Yahoo. “It’s unfair of her to do that, considering she claims that she does her best for all my kids. Dah, dah, dah, drama. ‘I’m perfect.’ No one’s perfect, honey. Trust me.”
He continued: “Now all the secrets are coming out because I’m not afraid to say anything. ‘How come you only get four kids?’ Because who I get is who I get. Whoever comes through that gate or gets off that [school] bus is who I get.”
Jon said because his son Collin, 12, is home-schooled, he doesn’t get to see him. The 39-year-old claims it’s been a year and half since he’s visited with Collin. “If the kids want to come, they come. I love them all, but I am going to focus on the ones that want to come,” he told the outlet. “My hands are tied.”
It seems Jon’s relationship with Kate is even more strained than the one he has with his children. Jon told Yahoo that things are “bad right now” and they need to go back to court, but he’s having money problems. “All the filings — and I do my own filings, then submit them to a law firm for stamp of approval — I have to pay for that,” he explained. “And pay all the court fees in the hopes that you’ll get something out of it. I’ve been going to court for seven years now. Unless you can arbitrate out of it and have a working relationship with the other parent, you’re going to spend a lot of money.”
In a January interview on “The Steve Harvey Show,” Jon dished about not being able to see Collin, saying that it’s been three years since he’s seen all of his kids together. “I only get what I get,” he said. “Now the kids are stuck in the middle between us.”
Kate previously confirmed that Jon doesn’t visit with all eight kids but said it’s better that he doesn’t see them all. During an interview with InTouch, the 41-year-old mom said all she tries to do is “keep the peace” between everyone. “Some of the kids visit, and some don’t,” she said. “That’s for the best.”
