Jonah Hill To Star In New 'Batman' Movie?
Jonah Hill is in negotiations to play one of the Caped Crusader’s signature villans in Mark Reeves’ upcoming movie “The Batman.”
The producers of the movie are really keen on having Hill on board for the project. A source told The Hollywood Reporter that they were thinking of having him in the movie even before Robert Pattinson was announced as the Dark Knight. But the casting decisions were put on hold until the role of Batman was filled.
The talks with the “Wolf Of Wall Street” star are still at an early stage. Both sides are still deciding as to which role or character the actor could portray. According to the source, The Penguin and the Riddler are the two characters that are in the conversation.
Starting his career as a comedy sidekick, Hill has now transformed into a two-time Academy Award nominee and has worked with some of the notable directors in Hollywood.
Filmmaker Matt Reeves, who directed the last two movies of the “Planet Of The Apes” franchise, assumed “Batman” directing duties from Ben Affleck in January 2017.
Affleck was the last actor to wear the iconic Batsuit for the big screen in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” and 2017’s “Justice League.”
Social media response was quite divided when it was announced that Pattinson will be portraying the role of the Dark Knight in the upcoming movie.
In a recent interview with Variety, the 33-year-old actor shared that he was not fazed by the people who doubt and hate him. “To be honest, it was less vitriolic than I was expecting. It is so much more fun when you are an underdog. There are no expectations from you,” Pattinson said.
His ex Kristen Stewart voiced her support amid the backlash and said that he is the only guy who could play Batman and noted that Pattinson has the “perfect cheekbones” to play the billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne.
Meanwhile, Pattinson is all set to be honored at the Mill Valley Film Festival in October. The actor will be honored for his work in “The Lighthouse.” The movie will also have a special screening on Oct. 5 during the ceremony.
The first in the trilogy, “The Batman” is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 25, 2021.
