A Florida man was arrested Sunday on child neglect charges after he allegedly left his 3-year-old son in his car so he could party at a strip club at nearly 2 a.m.

Jordan Caraway, 25, left the child for about a half hour early Sunday as he drank inside Dixie’s Gentleman’s Club in Deland, according to a police report of the incident obtained by the Smoking Gun.

Caraway initially told cops that he left his son with a friend, Jeremy Donahue, but a witness said Donahue was also in the strip club, according to the report.

A deputy with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said the 3-year-old boy “was visibly upset and crying. The victim [sic] clothes were dirty and the victim had grease and dirt on his body.”

Alicia Lewis, the boy’s mother, told authorities she left the 3-year-old with Caraway when she went to work around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, the report stated. She said she got a call from her son’s father around 1 a.m. Sunday and he told her he was at a party and that the boy was with him. Lewis then got another call asking her to pick up the child.

Donahue told authorities he and Caraway went to the strip club and that “the defendant was in the bar while the victim was left sleeping inside of the vehicle.”

Caraway was charged with child neglect and ordered held on $500 bail. He was in the Volusia County Jail as of Monday, according to the Smoking Gun.
