Jorge Masdival Calls Out Connor McGregor 'I'm Right Here Man'
Jorge Masdival is now calling the shots. The 34-year-old UFC superstar has just cemented his status among the MMA's best fighters, and he's keen on taking another superstar in the Octagon.
After demolishing Darren Till in March and silencing loudmouth Ben Askren in a 5-second knockout, the Miami native is eyeing Connor McGregor as his next opponent.
TMZ recently spoke with Masdival, and he said that he's "down," for a future fight with the Irish brawler. He added that Connor has "done a lot in the sport." "Gamebred" also gave the former UFC champ props for choosing to retire than coming back and being rewarded with a purse that he doesn't deserve.
In familiar Masvidal fashion, he avoided talking trash and ended his statements in high praise for McGregor. He also said that if "The Notorious" wants to fight again, "look no further, my brother!"
Jorge added a catch, though; he said that he does not want to waste time by flirting with Connor to bait him into fighting. He maintains that "Let's just scrap if were gonna scrap."
UFC President, Dana White, however, does not want to make Masvidal vs. McGregor a reality because the executive believes that the Irishman is too small for Masvidal. In his last fight against Ben Askren, Jorge weighed in at 170 pounds, while Conor entered his contest versus Khabib at 155 pounds.
"Gamebred" however believes that White's evaluation is wrong. He insisted that their natural weights are closer than people think, Conor also recently disclosed that the reason is BS.
Similarly, boxing champ Manny Pacquiao started his career as a featherweight and moved up at the welterweight category. The 8 division world champion came to fight bigger opponents in his career, including Antonio Margarito and Keith Thurman.
If the fight pushes through, it would be an exciting bout, considering that both fighters love to stand-up and throw big punches. Recently after earning the fastest KO in the history of the UFC, fans of the sport have been clamoring for a McGregor, Masvidal match.
For his part, Masvidal believes that their fight would draw a staggering amount of attention. He said that Conor "knows I'm only going for one thing on him -- the off button." Adding that "I'm not going in there to outpoint him or nothing... I'm right here, man, let's get it f**king cracking!"
