  • Jose Mourinho lauded Tottenham's entire attacking unit after Crystal Palace win
  • Mourinho insists Harry Kane will always be a priority over everybody in Tottenham
  • The renowned manager acknowledges Gareth Bale's resurgence

Tottenham has a lot of talented players, but Jose Mourinho is certain there is only one who is always on top of everybody.

The Spurs are currently enjoying a three-game winning streak in the English Premier League. The latest came on Sunday when Mourinho’s side thumped Crystal Palace, 4-1.

After the game, the legendary coach spoke highly of Harry Kane and Gareth Bale, the two players responsible for Tottenham’s four sensational goals who scored two goals apiece.

According to Mourinho, he didn’t want the exact words to come out of his mouth, but Kane is arguably the best striker in the sport today.

“I don't want to say that because I would be quite offensive for so many top strikers there are in Europe, and the world, but he's there with the best,” Mourinho replied to Football.london when asked if Kane the best striker in the world right now.

Even more interesting, Mourinho confirmed that the England captain will always be prioritized in Tottenham as long as he is in charge.

“I wouldn't change [Kane] him for anybody else because he means so much for us and he's a fantastic player,” he quipped.

Bale, on the other hand, has become evidently resurgent recently. Apart from notching two goals against Crystal Palace, the Wales captain also scored a brace against Burnley and a 73rd-minute goal against Wolfsberg.

When asked about how important Kane and Bale’s productive partnership is for the remainder of the season, the Spurs boss acknowledged that the latter has given the club “extra” quality but also pointed out that the entire attacking unit is essential.

“For me, it's more than their [Kane and Bale’s] partnership,” the Portuguese explained. “ We have very good attacking players and they allow me to do what I did today, for example, which was to have a Dele Alli who played really well against Fulham to leave him out and play Lucas [Moura] this time.”

“Sonny [Son Heung-Min], Gareth, Kane, and then [Erik] Lamela comes and comes well. [Steven] Bergwijn didn't even come and Tanguy [Ndombele] stayed on the bench. We are a team with a lot of talent in this area,” he added. [But] This Gareth is an extra for us. This Gareth didn't start the season. This Gareth is playing this way for a couple of months, and of course, the quality is amazing. He's a fantastic player.”

Aside from a set of talented players, another important thing Mourinho thinks Tottenham needs is confidence on the pitch.

“We have very good attacking players and when the team is confident and when the team is in a positive moment, playing with happiness with good self-esteem, we have lots of qualities,” the 58-year-old stated. “Of course it's a privilege to have such a very good group of players.”
