Josiah Duggar Hints He May Get Back Into A Courtship With Ex-Girlfriend Marjorie Jackson
The trailer for the upcoming season of TLC’s “Jill & Jessa: Counting On” doesn’t reveal if any of the Duggars are courting, but that hasn’t stopped Josiah Duggar from speaking out about his love life.
Six months after breaking it off with courtship partner Marjorie Jackson, Josiah, 19, is teasing the idea they may get back together. “We have time to grow… you never know,” Josiah told People when asked what the future holds. Josiah said he and Marjorie had a “good time together.”
Similar to the Duggar family’s statement regarding their August 2015 split, Josiah said they ended their relationship because they felt it was God’s will to do so. “We were just trying to follow God’s lead on everything. She didn’t feel that it was the right timing then, so we called it quits for a bit," he said.
Josiah said that no matter who he dates in the future, he always wants to be marriage material for his partner. “When you think about a girl to marry, you ask what kind of guy she would want to marry and you try to be that guy,” he said.
Marjorie and Josiah met in their home state of Arkansas and reconnected several months later during an overseas mission trip in December 2014. They officially began a courtship on April 6, 2015 — the same day Josiah’s sister, Jill Dillard, gave birth to her first child. The couple announced their union in a video. In the following weeks Marjorie, then 18, made brief cameos on the Duggar family’s blog and now-canceled TLC reality series “19 Kids and Counting.”
While it remains to be seen if Marjorie will appear on “Counting On,” TLC has confirmed Josiah will play a large role in the docuseries’ new episodes. The synopsis states Josiah and several of his older siblings will “explore their own talents and passions" this season. “Jill & Jessa: Counting On” returns to TLC on Tuesday, March 15, at 9 p.m. EST.
