Julianne Hough Blackface Halloween: 'My Costume Hurt And Offended People And I Truly Apologize'
Julianne Hough apologized for her controversial blackface Halloween costume. The triple-threat dressed as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren from the original Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black,” raising a few eyebrows with her outfit.
"I am a huge fan of the show ‘Orange Is the New Black,’ actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize," Hough tweeted.
But the apology might come a little too late for many who accused the former “Dancing with the Stars” professional dancer as being racist. Others were even more irate that anyone would defend Hough’s decision to dress as blackface for the ghoulish holiday.
The actress who plays the “Crazy Eyes” actress on “OISTNB” hasn’t addressed Hough’s apparent racism. On her last two Twitter posts, she asked fans to vote for her show on TV Guide, and on Sunday she casually commented on the weather. "What a gorgeous day it is. Let's all go enjoy it :-),” Aduba wrote.
But not everyone else was willing to turn a blind eye to Hough’s blackface Halloween costume for 2013. Check out what some users had to say on Twitter below:
