Director Colin Trevorrow teases new dinosaur species in "Jurassic World 3." Jurassic World 3

The ground work for “Jurassic World 3” has already begun. Colin Trevorrow, who is returning to the franchise as the director, confirmed in a recent interview that he has a team of people who are already busy building the dinosaurs for the upcoming film.

In a recent interview with "The Empire Film Podcast," Trevorrow confirmed that John Nolan is doing the animatronics for the upcoming film. Nolan and his team are known for working on the “Dark Crystal” series for Netflix.

Nolan and his team are experimenting with new designs with dinosaurs for the upcoming film. Trevorrow said that he has been visiting the workshop to see how they are creating the dinosaurs for his movie.

It is unclear what kind of a new hybrid dinosaur Trevorrow has asked the team to create. The director said that Nolan has been “innovating in a really exciting way.” He specifically motioned the eyes and joint movements that he has personally seen in the animatronics for “Jurassic World 3.”

Trevorrow also used animatronics for the first film from the dinosaur franchise that was released in 2015. More recently, he used animatronics for a short film titled “Battle at Big Rock,” which is a continuation of the ending scene that was featured in the sequel “Fallen Kingdom.”

The animatronics for the dinosaurs in “Battle at Big Rock” was by John Rosengrant. Trevorrow shared a picture of the dinosaur rig they used for the video on his Twitter page.

“Battle at Big Rock” is an eight-minute short video that resolves the cliff-hanger of “The Fallen Kingdom.” Trevorrow wrote the script with Emily Carmichael. The video was released o Sept 15, and the director woke up early when he was in the UK to read the reactions from the American audience.

“Jurassic World 3” will be released on June 11, 2021. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are expected to reprise their roles as Owen and Claire Dearing respectively.
