Both Luke Macfarlane’s “Killjoys” and Meghann Fahy’s “The Bold Type” are currently on hiatus, but fans can see them on TV soon enough with the premiere of their new Hallmark Channel movie, “Just Add Romance,” which premieres tonight.

This will be Fahy’s first time starring in a rom-com on the network, as her only experience with Hallmark in the past had been her role in 2011’s Hallmark Hall of Fame film, “The Lost Valentine,” with Jennifer Love Hewitt, Betty White, Sean Faris and her current boyfriend, Billy Magnussen.

As for Macfarlance, he recently starred opposite Candace Cameron Bure in Hallmark’s 2018 holiday flick, “A Shoe Addict’s Christmas.” He’s been in quite a few other Hallmark movies, as well, since joining the family in 2014 with “The Memory Book,” which also starred Meghan Ory.

Directed by Terry Ingram and written by Karen Berger, “Just Add Romance” will find the actors cooking up plenty of romantic moments for viewers to enjoy.

“Meeting in culinary school, Carly (Fahy) and Jason (Macfarlane) have instant chemistry, exchanged playful banter and competitiveness, while proving to be excellent chefs,” the synopsis begins. “But one day, Jason doesn’t show up and it isn’t until three years later that they meet again as contestants on TV’s ‘Kitchen Showdown,’ competing to win their own restaurant. Clear from the first day of filming they aren’t just cooking up delicious dishes but also a sweet romance, Carly and Jason conquer every challenge, beating the other contestants and becoming the last two finalists.”

The synopsis continues: “Caught on film in heartfelt gazes and even a gentle kiss, the smitten chefs throw themselves into the final challenge while still supporting one another. But when the losing contestants return to the final show as Carly and Jason’s sous chefs, emotions begin to boil over when everyone becomes invested in winning. Told by one of her sous chefs that Jason is using truffles like she is, Carly thinks he’s deliberately switched dishes and is copying her.”

As the competition comes to an end, Carly and Jason will have to work to make sure both their careers and their blossoming relationship survive.

The movie’s cast also includes Theresa Wong (Beverly), Michelle Marlin (Suzanne), Edward Foy (Winston), Debs Howard (Tina), Edwin Perez (Peter), Brittney Wilson (Zoey), David Adams (Rafael), Laara Sadiq (Nora), Malcolm Stewart (Kenneth) and Trevor Roberts (Kent).

“Just Add Romance” premieres on Saturday on Hallmark Channel at 8 p.m. EST.
