Justin Bieber Graduates High School, Adds High School Diploma To Long List of Awards
His first album has gone platinum twice. He won Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards in 2010 in addition to a long list of other awards. Now, Justin Bieber has a high school diploma, as he revealed that he recently graduated.
I just finished high school. I passed my test - I'm free! It was hard doing school and work every day, Bieber told The Daily Telegraph.
In his interview, 18-year-old Bieber said he does not like dedicating time to schoolwork, and instead would rather be performing.
At school, usually you have to do a lot of writing and reading. I'm really not into that stuff. I like to be out there.
However in a May 2010 interview with Coup de Main, a magazine based in New Zealand, Bieber said he was a straight-A student.
I have a tutor (Jenny) that travels with me. And we do school every morning. And just keep up on studies and stuff, Bieber told Coup de Main. I don't really have a favourite subject to be honest, because I don't really love school. But English - if I had to choose - English would be my favourite subject.
According to the Biebs, he only graduated because his mother insisted on him doing so.
That was something my mom really wanted me to do, so I had to do it for her, Bieber told the Daily Telegraph instead of touring the world performing. I mean, this kind of lifestyle has given me a different perspective on life. I've been able to travel the world.
Selena Gomez, Bieber's longtime girlfriend, graduated high school in 2007 while working on her television show, music career and film projects.
His graduation comes right before his new album, Believe, drops in June. The video for his latest single Boyfriend, which is an extreme departure from his normal sound, debuted on YouTube last week and amassed more than 8 million views the first day, according to MTV News.
Justin Bieber told The Daily Telegraph that his album is showing I'm growing up but I'm also not losing my fans. My fans are growing with me and that's why I think it's very special.
