Juventus In Advance Talks To Sign Manchester United Star Who Earns $339K-A-Week: Report
KEY POINTS
- Anthony Martial is contracted with Man Utd until 2024
- He has played only 11 games this season
- Martial was earlier linked with Seville as well
Juventus are reportedly close to signing Anthony Martial from Manchester United ahead of the winter market’s deadline day.
Manchester United and Juventus are in advance talks as the Serie A club are keen to secure Martial, who has become a top target of their manager for Massimiliano Allegri, reported Spanish Fichajes.
Juventus forward Federico Chiesa suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee during Bianconeri’s 4-3 win over Roma earlier this month, ending his season early. As the Italian playmaker is out for at least seven months, the Allianz side is looking for a replacement and they have identified Martial for the same.
Chiesa underwent a successful knee surgery Sunday and has started his road to recovery, according to Football Italia.
Meanwhile, Martial is prepared to join Juventus as the Frenchman is looking to part ways with Manchester United, according to The Hard Tackle. Juventus are looking to sign the 26-year-old forward on a loan deal. However, it is understood that a permanent deal is not off the tables yet. Martial is contracted with the Old Trafford club until 2024 and the Red Devils would definitely aim to cash in on him and not risk losing him for free in the future.
Earlier, Martial was linked with Seville. But after Manchester United had asked the La Liga club to pay the player’s full salary and a loan fee, Seville backed out of the transfer.
Manchester United are ready to release Martial as that would make room in their wage bracket. Martial currently earns $338,415-a-week, according to Spotrac. He has had injury issues over the years and has already missed six games due to various injuries in the ongoing campaign.
So far, Martial has made only 11 appearances for Manchester United in 2021-22 and has been involved in just one goal, which he scored against Everton in the Premier League.
