Juventus Could Upset Real Madrid By Signing One Of Their Top Targets For $81M: Report
KEY POINTS
- Juventus aim to sign Erling Haaland in 2021
- Haaland moved from Salzburg to Dortmund this January
- Real have been chasing Haaland for a while now
Juventus reportedly are chasing one of Real Madrid’s top targets, who is tipped to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s successor at the Serie A side.
The Italian club is looking to sign Erling Haaland for $81 million next year in a bid to boost their attack already consisting of Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, Douglas Costa, and Mirko Vucinic.
According to Tuttosport, Maurizio Sarri is desperate to sign the teenager next year as he is being considered as a long-term replacement of Ronaldo, whose contract will expire in 2022.
Juventus are interested in Haaland despite the Norwegian rejecting their offer this January. It was later known that Juventus were planning to put Haaland in their Under-23 squad.
The report further stated that Juventus could lose Gonzalo Higuain this summer and Haaland could be a perfect fit.
While Manchester United were also interested in signing Haaland, the 19-year-old eventually moved from RB Salzburg to Dortmund for $20m during the January window. In no time, he has shown the clubs what they have missed by netting 13 goals in 13 appearances for the German side.
Haaland recently became the first-ever teenager to score 40 or more in a single season, a record that eluded even the likes of Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Even though Haaland is currently contracted with Dortmund until 2024, there is a release clause in his contract that is expected to get triggered in 2021 and it could allow the clubs to buy him for a cheap price.
Even though Juventus are keeping a tab on the release clause, they are aware that getting his signatures next year won’t be easy as other big clubs such as Real Madrid and Man Utd will do everything possible to sign the talented playmaker.
If Juventus manage to sign Haaland next year, the youngster could get one whole season to play alongside Ronaldo and that could be a great deal for the Norwegian. Meanwhile, the "Old Lady" are looking at Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik to replace Higuain ahead of the 2020-21 season.
