Kaley Cuoco opened up about the challenges she endured while filming the second season of "The Flight Attendant."
The 36-year-old actress revealed how her divorce from ex-husband Karl Cook affected her mental state as she was filming the series.
"It was one of the hardest years of my life. Not only personally, but doing this character that was so tormented," she said in an interview with Variety. "It was the first time that I started therapy — I've been very open about that."
Cuoco and Cook officially ended their marriage in June after announcing their split in September 2021.
The actress went on to reveal that before the shooting for season 2 began, she had developed a huge rash due to what was going through in her personal life.
"It was horrible," she said. "And I developed a stress rash that ran all the way down my body for three straight months that wouldn't go away. I literally, like, had fire on my leg for three months. I could barely walk."
Cuoco said she asked her co-star and close friend, Zosia Mamet to live with her temporarily while she was navigating the pain of her divorce.
"I really needed someone with me. I was really losing my mind. And then so many of these scenes were so hard to do because they were so hateful, so sad, and so dark, and there wasn't a lot of levity," the actress said.
The show follows the story of an alcoholic flight attendant, Cassie Bowden, who wakes up one day in a hotel room beside the lifeless body of one of her passengers. Bowden embarks on a quest to find out the identity of the real killer.
A month into shooting the series, Cuoco found herself in the company of her producers – an intervention she truly needed at that time.
"One month in, I had an intervention on myself in my trailer — all my producers were in there. And I said, 'I need help.' It was interesting to say that out loud," she shared to Variety. "Going through my divorce, it was really a super dark time," she added.
Cuoco has since moved on from the split and recently made her relationship with "Ozark" alum Tom Pelphrey Instagram official in a series of photos shared in May.
