Kansas City Chiefs Playoffs: What Are The Teams KC Can Play In Their First Postseason Game?
After a 14-2 regular season, the Kansas City Chiefs are the only AFC playoff team that gets to sit back and watch Wild-Card Weekend from home. The defending Super Bowl champions have four potential opponents for their first postseason game, depending on what happens Saturday and Sunday.
The Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans all have a chance to visit Kansas City in the divisional round. The Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers are the only AFC playoff teams that can’t play the Chiefs in the second round.
Kansas City’s opponent would be decided after the first playoff game of the year should the Colts beat the Bills. Indianapolis visits Buffalo on Saturday in the early game, and if the Colts win, their only possible opponent in the divisional round would be the top-seed Chiefs since the Colts are the lowest-seeded AFC playoff team.
It will be a sizable upset if the Colts beat the Bills. Indianapolis is a 7-point underdog on the road.
If Indianapolis loses, Cleveland can clinch a matchup with Kansas City by defeating Pittsburgh. The Browns visit the Steelers Sunday night in the final game of Wild-Card Weekend. Cleveland and Pittsburgh split their two regular-season meetings.
The Browns are up to six-point underdogs in Pittsburgh now that head coach Kevin Stefanski and others won’t be available Sunday after they tested positive for COVID-19.
The Baltimore Ravens visit the Tennessee Titans in the first game Sunday. The loser will be eliminated from the postseason. The winner will visit Kansas City in the second round if both the Colts and Browns are defeated.
Baltimore is a 3-point favorite in Tennessee. The Titans defeated the Ravens in last year’s playoffs and Week 11 of the 2020 regular season.
The Chiefs defeated the Titans in the 2020 AFC Championship Game. Kansas City beat Baltimore in Week 3.
No matter which team visits Arrowhead Stadium in the divisional round, Kansas City will be a heavy betting favorite. Patrick Mahomes is coming off another MVP-caliber season and the Chiefs are expected to be favorites.
