Kanye West, along with his new-found Christian faith and expansion of music genre, had encountered a lot of praise and criticisms. While his followers and family —including the Kardashians— support this new endeavor, there are some who believe that this is just a stunt with a hidden agenda.
One of the people who reportedly believe that West is using this so-called expansion as something insincere with a motive to further push his brand is the Hollywood actor, Tyrese.
Talking to Hollywood Unlocked’s Jason Lee, Tyrese said he wasn’t trying to be politically correct because he would tell people about how he felt about West —if he had feelings about the rapper. In his opinion, people would ultimately get to a place where everyone would embrace their spirituality at whatever level.
“The Fate of the Furious” actor, however, shared some concerns with regard to using God as a form of manipulation. He said on the video uploaded by the Hollywood Unlocked on YouTube that God knew a person’s heart and he didn’t care what kind of power and influence he or she had.
“If you’re at the bottom —career-wise, reputation-wise— and you decide to use Jesus or God as a form of manipulation to get people to rock with you again, God’ [going to] deal with you… and that’s for everybody,” the 41-year-old actor added.
West is known as one of the most influential people in the Hollywood industry; however, where there is fame, there is scrutiny. As such, the 42-year-old record producer, along with his high status in the music industry, has a reputation for being egotistical.
West had been open about his life experiences and bad choices in the past. He opened up having addicted pornography and how it affected him and his struggles with mental health. The turning point of his spiritual life was when he started reading and writing about bible verses when he was at a hospital.
Kim Kardashian West, who’s been supportive of her husband’s new-found religion, previously said when she appeared on “The View” that before the whole Sunday Service became a public thing, it was very personal to West —a way to heal himself. The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star revealed that at first, it was exclusive for family and close friends.
West, despite people’s criticism and skepticism, proclaimed that he’s now in service to Christ. In an interview with Zane Lowe, the “Follow God” singer said that his job was to spread the Gospel and to let people know what Jesus did for him, Grotto reported. West claimed he’s now a son of God and he’s free.
