Kanye West's Leather Givenchy Skirt From 12-12-12 Concert Now Has A Twitter Account, @KanyesSkirt
Kanye West had everyone's skirts in a knot last night when the rapper pulled a Marc Jacobs and donned a Givenchy skirt over a pair of tight leather pants to the 12-12-12 benefit concert in New York City. The garment has garnered so much attention that it now even has its own parody Twitter account: @KanyesSkirt.
It's no surprise that West, 35, went with a risqué fashion choice -- which New York Magazine's The Cut calls "skants," short for skirt over pants -- for the event to benefit the Robin Hood Fund for Hurricane Sandy victims. West has actually worn the same skirt (from Riccardo Tisci's Fall 2012 Men's collection for Givenchy) before over matching pants or "meggings" during a performance on the Watch the Throne tour at Madison Square Garden last November. He's also channeled his feminine side before when he wore a women's Celine blouse designed by Phoebe Philo for the Celine Spring 2011 collection in April 2011.
And after all, West is a designer of his own high fashion women's clothing line and frequently is a self-appointed stylist for girlfriend Kim Kardashian.
But while the two billion viewers of the telecast still weigh in on the designer/rapper/Mr. Kardashian's sartorial choices, including his girlfriend who tweeted "He looks so cute !," there's a new Twitter account to follow: @KanyesSkirt.
Within minutes of West taking the stage, the gag account was created and according to a Thursday morning tweet, the skirt is "in negations" for its own "E! True Hollywood Story."
Some of the best tweets so far?
"Nothing but the finest pleather money can buy. Yeah, i'm fly."
"Anybody know if @foofightersdave is looking for something to wear for his set?"
"For those of you wishing to purchase a similar garment, go to your local Scottish S&M outlet."
"Wow over 800 followers already? I'm almost as viral as Kim's chlamydia."
"Day 2 in Kanye's nether regions. The boxer briefs and i have formed an alliance to attempt escape."
And the cherry on top of the sundae: "Sir Paul is wearing mom jeans," referring to Paul McCartney's high-waisted denim.
