Karina Smirnoff Engagement Called Off: Report
She wanted to kiss her mirror ball trophy after taking Dancing with the Stars but Karina Smirnoff isn't so sure she wants to kiss her engagement ring.
Smirnoff, 30, is reportedly calling off her engagement to pro baseball player fiance Brad Penny, 33. E! Online reports that Smirnoff and Penny are ending their engagement.
They're just different people, a source told E!.
The couple started dating in 2009. According to CNN, they met through former Dancing with the Stars contestant Chuck Liddell.
But some see conflicting reports since Smirnoff was seen in Las Vegas last week wearing her engagement ring. Yet though a representative for Smirnoff did not respond to a request for comment, she had said earlier this year she wanted to postpone her wedding to focus on Dancing with the Starts.
It apparently worked, as she and partner J.R. Martinez claimed the mirror ball trophy in November. She covered her face and shed tears after they claimed the win.
First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who voted for us for 10 weeks, Martinez said, according to People Magazine. Thank you, America, for believing in us.
Smirnoff was previously engaged to Maksim Chmerkovskly but that didn't work out. She had claimed, however, that Penny is a man who supports me and loves me unconditionally.
Yet during her Dancing with the Stars apeparances, Penny was never spotted in the audience.
