Kate Middleton Chooses Lady Gaga’s Milliner to Design Her Hat for Queen’s Diamond Jubilee
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, who was voted as the Hat Person of the Year 2011, has chosen Lady Gaga's Milliner, Piers Atkinson, to design a creation for her to wear during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Piers Atkinson, who is best known for his designs worn by pop star Lady Gaga and Rihanna, had been commissioned to make hats for Middleton, the Daily Mail reported.
In 2010, Atkinson's told Fashion156.com that Middleton was one of his five favorite hat wearers. I'd love to meet a royal socially - imagine that inbred sense of superiority, generation after generation, he added.
The Duchess of Cambridge is known as more of a Philip Treacy fan, following in the footsteps of Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole and Princess Beatrice. However, this is a much bolder and daring decision for the Duchess to choose a new milliner.
Middleton is expected to wear the Atkinson headgear when she accompanies the Queen and Prince Philip to Leicester for the Diamond Jubilee tour or when she joins the Queen at upmarket emporium Fortnum & Mason.
It seems the Duchess's choice of a new designer suggests that she wants to retain the Hat Person of the Year in 2012 too.
