Kate Middleton Cried After Confronting Meghan Markle Over Alleged Staff Bullying, TV Host Claims

Kate Middleton cried following an argument with Meghan Markle over allegations that the Duchess of Sussex had bullied palace staff, British TV host Kirstie Allsopp has claimed.

Markle previously addressed her and Middleton's dispute — which took place in May 2018, just days before the former actress' wedding to Prince Harry — during her March interview with Oprah Winfrey, claiming that she was the one who cried during the argument. The Duchess of Sussex also said that the clash stemmed from flower girl dresses and that Middleton had later given her flowers and a note to apologize.

However, Allsopp, who is a family friend of Prince Charles' wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has now claimed that Middleton was the one who was left in tears after she "lost control" during an argument with Markle over allegations that the former "Suits" star was rude to Kensington Palace staff.

"Kate never ever loses her temper, but she found out Meghan was being rude to staff at Kensington Palace and she was angry with her," Allsopp alleged to The Telegraph. "Then, Kate burst into tears because she'd lost control and she did take Meghan flowers to try and patch things up."

Duchess Camilla was a childhood friend of the "Location, Location, Location" host's late mother, Lady Fiona Hindlip, and is the godmother to her brother Henry.

Allsopp's account of the argument is the third to be aired in public after The Telegraph first reported the dispute three years ago, when it was initially said that the Duchess of Cambridge ended up crying after a fitting for Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress.

Though the reason for the alleged dispute was unclear at the time, one unnamed insider claimed to The Telegraph, "Kate had only just given birth to Prince Louis and was feeling quite emotional."

Markle hit back at the claims when speaking to Winfrey earlier this year, claiming she was the one who ended up in tears and not her sister-in-law.

"The reverse happened," she said of reports claiming she made Middleton cry. "I don't say that to be disparaging to anyone because it was a really hard week of the wedding and she was upset about something. But she owned it, and she apologized. She brought me flowers and a note, apologizing. And she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone, right, to just take accountability for it."

Earlier this week, Markle's lawyer Jenny Afia also denied allegations of the Duchess of Sussex bullying staff members when the attorney appeared in the BBC's "The Princes and the Press" documentary.

"This narrative that no one could work for the Duchess of Sussex, that she was too difficult or demanding a boss, and that everyone had to leave, is just not true," Afia told host Amol Rajan.

In March, a report by U.K.'s The Times claimed that Markle faced a bullying complaint made by one of her close advisers during her time as a working royal at Kensington Palace.

In an October 2018 complaint, the Sussexes' former communications secretary Jason Knauf claimed that Markle drove two personal assistants out of the household and undermined the confidence of a third staff member, according to the outlet.

A spokesperson for Markle and Prince Harry quickly issued a statement denying the claims.

"The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma," read the statement obtained by People. "She is determined to continue her work building compassion around the world and will keep striving to set an example for doing what is right and doing what is good."
