Kate Middleton ‘Determined’ Not To Upstage Meghan Markle At Son Archie’s Christening
Kate Middleton was reportedly determined to not upstage Meghan Markle on her son Archie’s christening.
Prince William and Middleton attended the baptism of Prince Harry and Markle’s son, Archie. A few hours ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released the official photos from their baby’s baptism and according to body language expert Judi James, based on her pose, the Duchess of Cambridge was keen to not upstaged the first-time mom.
“The formal pose shows all the royals looking relaxed and happy apart from a rather over-formal William in a self-protective barrier pose and Kate looking as though she's determined to not upstage the happy couple and their first baby,” James told Fabulous Digital.
James described the photo released by the palace as something “as intimate as you can get.“
“With Harry presented in dashing, manly mode, there's an expression bordering on loving concern as Meghan holds the blissfully sleeping baby up at him and he grabs her arm as though only just realising the miracle of becoming a first-time dad,” she added. “The bundle of love pose is romantic and as intimate as you can get with a camera lurking but the intensity of their mutual gazing might answer the question about why they chose to hold the christening in private. This look says it all in terms of them wanting some space as a loving trio, rather than showing Archie direct to camera in a more accessible way.”
Unlike Prince William and Middleton, Prince Harry and Markle opted to keep Archie’s godparents a secret. They also decided to make the ceremony private and announced earlier that they would just release photos.
A number of Brits weren’t happy with the couple’s decision to keep their son private. In a poll created by Express, 82% of the respondents said that their move was wrong. According to them, they pay for Prince Harry and Markle’s privileged lives, so they are entitled to know every detail of them including their son’s updates.
One netizen said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can be private individuals if they stick to private funding. However, when public money is involved then it becomes a public matter.
