Kate Middleton has been dubbed the new People’s Princess, taking after her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.

Michael Cole, a former royal correspondent for BBC, spoke about the Duchess of Cambridge in Amazon Prime’s documentary “Kate Middleton: Working Class to Windsor.” He said that the mom of three could easily become the new People’s Princess due to a number of reasons.

“She won’t be condescending to other people, she will be her own self, but I think there will be a lot of people who can identify with her, her background and where she’s come from. Particularly as she succeeds in the job, I think they will warm to her. They will see that she hasn’t gone out to get a prince, they’ll see that it’s been a mutually-arrived-at relationship. They will recognize that, for once, this is a love match,” he said (via Express).

Cole also talked about the late Princess of Wales and said that if she was still alive, she would be happy to give Middleton the People’s Princess title.

“I think, if Diana was here, she would approve of Kate Middleton. She might feel a slight ‘oh, dear I don’t want to lose my son.’ I do think she would approve and see, in Kate Middleton, some admirable qualities and she’ll feel that her son would be safe with her,” he said.

But as of late, Princess Diana’s title is still being used to refer to her even though she passed away 21 years ago. Middleton didn’t have the chance to meet the Princess of Wales, but she’s heard so much about her through her husband Prince William.

In related news, Meghan Markle has also been dubbed as the People’s Princess. Earlier this year, Erin Specht, who dated Markle’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr., said that she thinks Markle will be more popular than Princess Diana in the coming years.

“The royal family is lucky to have her. She absolutely could be more popular than Diana,” she said (via Express).
