Kate Middleton and Prince William used a particular strategy to trick girls who were trying to hit on the royal.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dated for almost a decade before Prince William popped the big question. Due to the long wait, Middleton was dubbed “Waity Katie.” However, prior to dating, the two were good friends. In fact, Middleton helped Prince William deal with the girls trying to hit on him.

Middleton helped Prince William just a few weeks after they met. Laura Warshauer, a friend of the royal couple shared to Katie Nicholl in her book “Kate: The Future Queen” how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were there for each other.

“They had each other’s backs and looked out for each other,” she said.

Warshauer also recalled an incident when Middleton saved Prince William while attending a party. According to her, it was only Middleton who could do it with Prince William.

“Kate and I were eating brownies. Kate was never a big drinker, she didn't need alcohol to give her confidence. Will was getting really hit on by this girl at the party and it was getting quite uncomfortable because he couldn't shake her off. He was being really polite, but this girl just didn't get the hint,” Warshauer said

All of a sudden, Middleton reportedly came up and put her arms around Prince William. The future king then told the girl that he was sorry that he couldn’t entertain her because he had a girlfriend. After the incident, Prince William and Middleton reportedly went off giggling.

“Kate was the only girl in the room who could have done that. And that was just a month after we started university,” she added.

Warshauer added that Middleton was also popular to boys because she was very striking and beautiful. In addition, Middleton was “bubbly and open.” Although she married Prince William, it wasn’t the duke who was thought to be the perfect match for the duchess.

According to Pal Michael Choong, all the blokes loved Middleton while all the girls loved her ex-boyfriend Rupert Finch. In fact, many considered them the “golden couple.”

In related news, Prince Harry was praised for being a gentleman while Prince William was slammed for not being one. Many netizens were disappointed when the Duke of Cambridge did not help his wife by opening the door of a rickshaw when they attended an evening reception during their tour to Pakistan.
